Four Seasons Resort Maui’s 26th Day of Hope is Saturday

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea announces the 26th annual Day of Hope on Saturday. The day’s events commence at 7 a.m. with a 10K Run/5K Run & Walk along Wailea Alanui, and continue on the resort’s oceanfront lawn and Wailea Beach throughout the morning.

The community is invited to join the resort in this fundraising event for American Cancer Society, Pacific Cancer Foundation and Kapiolani Medical Center.

The run/walk is followed by a breakfast buffet, where master of ceremonies Howard “Dash” Dashefsky will preside over the morning’s events.

There will be a live auction featuring deluxe packages at various resorts and hotels.

Locks of Love will be on hand to lop off ponytails of 10 inches or longer to be made into real-hair wigs for children going through cancer treatment, and those who donate their hair will be treated to a haircut at The Salon at Four Seasons Resort Maui.

Children ages 3 to 12 will enjoy the Keiki Dash on Wailea Beach. The day will conclude with a traditional Hawaiian canoe ceremony to commemorate loved ones lost to cancer.

The Day of Hope is the culmination of year-round efforts of the resort’s employee volunteers. Last year, the resort donated over $54,000. “The Day of Hope gives us a special opportunity to join forces with the community,” said resort General Manager Jean Claude Wietzel. “We are proud to be part of this fight.”

Preregistration is $40. On Thursday and Friday, registration is $50. Race-day registration is $60. A complimentary shuttle service will run from the grassy lawn at the top of Wailea Ike Drive to Wailea Beach before and after the race.
