Grant available to help working women further their education
Women who are the heads of their households, with primary financial responsibility for themselves and their dependents, may be eligible for a cash grant of $2,000 for the Soroptimist “Live Your Dream Award.”
Applicants for the award must be attending an undergraduate degree program or a vocational skills training program and require financial assistance.
Since 1972, the “Live Your Dream Award” (formerly known as the “Women’s Opportunity Award”) has helped women in the workforce who are interested in upgrading their education or skills to improve their employment prospects.
The grants can be used to offset costs of higher education or training and associated expenses, such as books, child care and transportation.
The deadline for applications is Dec. 15; applications must be postmarked by that date.
Applications, reference forms and eligibility checklist are available at www.simaui.org. For more information, call (808) 870-0036.
