Family event to celebrate centennial of Kaluanui

Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center invites the community to celebrate 100 years of its historic estate at the Kaluanui Centennial Festival & Family Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 2841 Baldwin Ave. in Makawao. The family-friendly event is open to the public with free admission.

Hui No’eau will be offering art projects for a small fee for all ages, as well as live artist demonstrations in glassblowing, printmaking, jewelry and more.

Musical entertainment includes performances by members of the Kalama Intermediate School ukulele band as well as by Maui singer/songwriter Miss Bristol, and a performance by Halau Hula Wehena O Ke Ao. Families can feel the beat of Maui Taiko drummers on the lawn with food from local food trucks.

Guests can also learn more about the Hui’s 100-year-old estate by joining a property tour with retired Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. Vice President John W. Hoxie Jr. and Baldwin family descendent Frances “Effie” Cameron Ort.
