‘Relay For Life’ at War Memorial Complex
Local cancer survivors and their caregivers are invited to join other Maui cancer survivors in taking the celebratory first lap at the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Central and South Maui event on July 21 at the War Memorial Complex. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Survivors Lap will begin at 6.
The event includes the annual lighting of the of luminaria, a ceremony in which survivors, caregivers and relay participants set aglow lights of hope in luminaria bags and place them around the relay’s track. Each luminaria includes handwritten dedications inscribed upon them honoring loved ones touched by cancer.
Money raised at the event will help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing the disease, and fund cancer research.
To register in advance, visit relayforlife.org or www.relayforlife.org/centralsouthmauihi, or call the American Cancer Society at (800) 227-2345.
