QKC provides opportunities to donate to nonprofit organizations

Queen Ka’ahumanu Center is providing multiple opportunities for the community to donate to nonprofit organizations this holiday season through its QKC Cares initiative through Dec. 22.

QKC welcomes back the Salvation Army Angel Tree through Saturday between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., excluding Sundays. This program provides new clothing and toys for children of families in need. Once a child has been registered as an “Angel,” The Salvation Army makes a promise to provide Christmas for that child. The community can stop by, pick an Angel, purchase their wish gifts and make a donation.

QKC, Pacific Media Hawaii and Maui United Way are presenting the Maui County Holiday Toy Drive through Dec. 16. Drop an unwrapped gift for keiki up to 18 years of age at the QKC Toy Drive Bin at Guest Services during center hours or the Pacific Media Hawaii office at 311 Ano St. (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Toys specifically for ages 5-10 years are highly encouraged, however all toys are welcome. Full details available at QKC and PMG websites.

An annual tradition, QKC presents Holiday Gift Wrapping by various Maui’s nonprofit organizations over two weekends, Friday-Dec. 16 and Dec. 21- 23. All donation proceeds will support participating organizations including Hui No Ke Ola Pono, Maui Adult Day Care Center, Maui Economic Opportunity, Maui United Soccer 04 Boys, Maui United Way and Special Olympics Maui. Dates and times are available at queenkaahumanucenter.com.

New this year, QKC together with Make-A-Wish Hawaii presents Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 10 a.m. Dec. 22 at Center Court.

Each year, more than a dozen Maui County children are newly diagnosed with critical illnesses and have their wish granted by Make-A-Wish Hawaii.

The inaugural Breakfast with Santa will feature keiki holiday activities, singalong, buffet breakfast, Da Maui Sleigh rides and photo opportunities with Santa.

Tickets are on sale at eventbrite.com.
