Applications available for HRYF scholarships

Macaleigh Hendricks, recipient of the 2018 Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation Scholarship from the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, spoke at a recent club meeting about her experiences in Europe prior to attending the University of Southern California.

Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation is a nonprofit charitable corporation founded in 1976. Its main objective is to provide scholarships for Hawaii youths to further their education after high school. The 10 Rotary clubs on Maui and Lanai are now accepting applications for this scholarship award.

Each Maui County Rotary club will select a deserving high school student to receive the $5,000 scholarship award. This award is nontransferable and can only be used for the first year of school. Funds are mailed directly to the school of choice and cannot be deterred for future use.

Applications are available at high school counseling offices or by contacting HRYF Maui Trustee Joanne Laird at mamalrd01@gmail.com. The application deadline is Feb. 6.
