BIA offers free disaster training sessions
The Building Industry Association of Hawaii will provide training on Maui on Feb. 4 to address occupational safety and health hazards that may be encountered in natural disaster site response and cleanup activities across Hawaii.
Disaster Response & Preparedness Training is free and designed for first responders, contractors, workers, employees, employers and volunteers, and is open to anyone who wants to be better prepared for natural disasters such as hurricanes, tropical storms, earthquakes, floods and tsunamis.
Through the support of numerous organizations, including the Natural Energy Labor of Hawaii Authority and the Maui Office of Economic Development, the training will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Maui Business Resource Center in the Maui Mall.
To register, visit tinyurl.com/BIAMaui1 for the morning session or tinyurl.com/BIAMaui2 for the afternoon session.
Led by a certified safety professional, training will provide information to increase and improve knowledge, skills and access to valuable resources and to establish planning processes to help prevent injury and illness during disaster response.
