Maui Seasons for Peace calls for Maui Peace Hero nominations

Maui Seasons for Peace is once again holding its annual Maui Peace Hero event. The ceremony will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 8 at the University of Hawaii Maui’s College Pa’ina Main Dining Room. A full buffet dinner will be served at the ceremony. The event has been held annually since 2002.

The Maui Seasons for Peace board of directors is now accepting nominations from throughout the community to receive this year’s Maui Peace Hero award.

Maui Peace Heroes are “ordinary people doing extraordinary things.” Criteria for selection is a person or organization who:

• Moves the community in the direction of peace through their practice of nonviolence.

• Serves as an unsung ambassador of good will who unselfishly donates time, talent, energy and resources for the greater good.

• Is generous at heart, doing deeds that often go unnoticed.

• Is committed to making a positive significant difference in our global community.

Recipients of the 2018 Peace Hero Award were Joe and Eleanor Apolo, Melinda Gohn, Mark Harbison, Kimokeo Kapahulehua and Maui Mediation Services.

To nominate a person or organization for this recognition award, send an email to seasonsforpeace@gmail.com. An application form will be provided. The application deadline is Feb. 8.
