Tea at Lona Ridge benefits cancer survivors
Maui Cancer Wellness Retreats will present its first Royal High Tea from 3 to 6 p.m. April 28 at Lona Ridge estate in Wailuku.
Chef Bev Gannon will cater the event. Proceeds will help fund 30 scholarships for cancer survivors to attend MCWR’s three-day, two-night retreat.
The event will begin with a welcoming mimosa and an opportunity for guests to meet estate owner Leona Wilson, tour the gardens and meet other attendees. Dr. Bridget Bongaard, internal medical physician and co-founder of MCWR, will open the event. Past Maui Center Wellness Retreat participant and cancer survivor Dr. Alice Svoboda will enlighten guests about her experiences as an attendee of last year’s retreat.
Tea service will begin showcasing savories and sweets by Gannon. Musical entertainment will be provided; prize drawings, a silent auction and a live auction will offer opportunities to show support for MCWR cancer survivors. High tea party attire is encouraged.
“MCWR gives individuals tools to restore control in their life and offers time to process the changes they have undergone,” said Bongaard. “The retreat focuses on the means to get the body and spirit strengthened for a better future outcome.”
