Dedication to youth nets $20K for club
Gina McLain, a director at Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui, recently was recognized with a 2019 Maytag Dependable Leader Award for her commitment to helping thousands of underserved youths in the community.
The award recognizes Boys & Girls Club staff and volunteers who make a difference as dependable and exceptional role models for kids who need consistent, supportive adult figures in their lives.
The award includes $20,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui to assist with organization’s volunteer program titled GIVE 60, which motivates teens to volunteer 60 minutes a week to develop their sense of generosity, inspire others, sharpen core values and their sense of empathy.
“Gina is committed to serving youth in our community,” said Karey Kapoi, Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui board of directors president. “For more than 14 years, Gina has enriched the lives of our organization’s 7,000 youth by instilling core values among each child who walks through our doors. From learning empathy to empowering generosity, Gina shares guidance and resources that resonate profoundly for our members.”
