Preserving recollections
Wallette Pellegrino, the current main interviewer for the “Preserving Our Recollections” television program that talks story with longtime Maui County residents, greets people during a gathering Sept. 17 at the University of Hawaii Maui College for those who have been featured on the program and guests. At the program, Maui resident Jo Rockwell presented her donation of 39 paintings featuring Maui’s sugar history to the college. They will be physically received after she has passed. The paintings reflect the original premise of “Preserving Our Recollections” as one of the main founders, Darrell Oishi, wanted to preserve stories of the plantation days.
