Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset adopts Hana school; collects school supplies

Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset President Heidi Dollinger and Vocational Service Chair Tori Taylor recently presented 40 boxes and bags of school supplies and a check for $850 to the students at Hana High and Elementary School for school supplies. Youth Service Chair Erica Gale provided the large van for the transport of these supplies to the school. Hana School has been adopted by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset to be the beneficiary of annual school supplies drives and other youth-related projects.

The funds and over 20 boxes of school supplies were collected at the club’s School Supplies Drive held at the Lahaina Cannery Mall in September.

Upon learning that Hana school needed school supplies, Karen Twitchell, a teacher at Kamehameha III School, approached her staff to help support the children. Another 20 boxes and bags collected from Kamehameha III teachers were added to the ones collected at the drive. Of special note was a large financial contribution from Lahaina restaurant owners Mark and Judy Ellman.
