Lions seek hygiene items for homeless

Lahaina’s Mauna Kahalawai Lions, a branch club of Maui Lions Club, is once again gearing up to help those less fortunate. This year, the Lahaina club plans to go out to the homeless not living in shelters and distribute “Fall Blessings Bags.” The club is seeking the community’s help in donating small items such as soap, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, hand sanitizer, tooth brushes, tooth paste and bandages.

All donations can be dropped off in the collection bins at Napa Auto Parts in Lahaina or at Maui Motorcycle Co./Maui Harley-Davidson in Kahului through Dec. 19.

The club is hoping to pass out approximately 300 blessings bags in Lahaina and 300 blessing bags in Kahului.

There are four Lions Clubs on Maui: Airport, Haleakala, Kahului and Maui in Central Maui and branch clubs in Lahaina and Hana. The Lions Clubs of Maui started with the charter of The Maui Lions Club 81 years ago.

Anyone interested in becoming a member or wanting to donate items for the blessings bags should contact Lisa Puaa at (808) 264-1151 or email lisa@dabarefootwarrior.com.
