One thing could reverse chronic disease says medical doctor
“What Your Doctor Didn’t Learn in Medical School Could Kill You,” a free lecture by Laurie Marbas, M.D., will be presented Thursday at the J. Walter Cameron Center in Wailuku at 7 p.m.
Most doctors in medical school do not learn the one thing that could reverse chronic disease and stop the need for most prescription medications, according to Marbas. So, physicians primarily practice medicine with a prescription pad and a scalpel. Prescription medications kill 106,000 Americans every year, according to one study. That, says Marbas, makes doctors one of the leading causes of death among Americans.
Marbas is a double board-certified family medicine and lifestyle medicine physician utilizing food as medicine. She is the managing editor for the Plantrician Project’s International Journal of Disease Reversal and Prevention, and is co-founder of Healthy Human Revolution (healthyhumanrevolution.com), whose mission is to provide resources that empower individuals to adopt and sustain a whole-food, plant-based diet.
The lecture is presented by the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii; no reservations are needed. Food will be provided by Down to Earth in Kahului. For more information, call 385-2790 or email email@example.com.
The Cameron Center is at 95 Mahalani St.
