Pink Patch donation presented to PCF
Maui Police Department Chief Tivoli Faaumu presented a check Nov. 26 for $2,771 to Nancy LaJoy, executive director of the Pacific Cancer Foundation.
The money was raised through sales of pink MPD patches throughout the month of October.
This was a first for the Maui Police Department, and many of the officers and civilian employees jumped at the opportunity to support the mission of the Pacific Cancer Foundation. Officers were authorized to replace the standard police patch on their uniforms during October as a way to express their support.
“We were surprised when we began receiving emails and phone calls from people outside of Maui. We received requests from California and as far away as Ukraine” said officer Bethany Cravalho-Parker, who was in charge of this project.
“The response was so incredible both within and outside of the department. In fact, I had a difficult time getting patches for myself,” said Faaumu.
