Workshop: ‘Healthy Living for a Healthy Brain’

Maui Adult Day Care Centers & Maui County Office on Aging will present a free caregiver workshop, “Healthy Living for a Healthy Brain.” Christine Spencer, regional coordinator with Alzheimer’s Association Maui, will present a workshop that explores brain health and promotes cognitive activities to form new connections among brain cells and improve cognition. Attendees will learn the importance of social engagement, suggestions for staying engaged, new skills and hobbies to promote brain health and provide protection against developing dementia:

• 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday — Lahaina Hongwanji Mission Church, 551 Wainee St., Lahaina.

• 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 22 — Hale Hulu Mamo, Hana.

• 9:30 to 11 a.m. Jan. 28 — South Maui Adult Day Care Center, 56 Ehiku St., Kihei.

• 9:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 8 — Maui Adult Day Care Ocean View Center at the Nisei Veterans Center on Lower Main Street, Wailuku.

Workshops are open to the public; no reservations needed. Refreshments and certificates of attendance provided. Free care can be provided for an elderly loved one during the workshop by calling in advance to arrange.
