Maui Puerto Rican Association offers scholarships
The Maui Puerto Rican Association is accepting applications for college level studies in accredited institutions. A total of $5,200 will be awarded in 2020.
Two awards of $1,000 each, two at $850 each, and two of $750 each will be granted to applicants of Puerto Rican or part-Puerto Rican descent. Applicants must be residents of Maui County.
Applicants are required to complete the association’s application form, furnish a transcript of most recent grades, two letters of reference from persons other than relatives and a one page only essay on reasons for applying for the scholarship.

Applications are also available from all high school counselors in Maui County, Hui Malama and at UH-Maui College, or by writing to Scholarship Chair, Maui Puerto Rican Association, 401 Baldwin Ave., Suite 202, Paia, 96779.
Applications and all required documents must be postmarked no later than March 31 to be considered. Announcement of awards will be made in June and the grants presented on Aug. 8.
As of 2019, the association has granted $134,700 to 154 Maui scholars.
