Feed My Sheep welcomes director

Scott Hopkins, the former operations director for the nonprofit Feed My Sheep program, has been promoted to executive director.

Hopkins had worked for Feed My Sheep, a mobile food distribution program for the needy, for almost 13 years in various roles.

Joyce Kawakami, the founder and former CEO, has moved on to be the president of the Board of Directors and will continue as a consultant to Hopkins as he transitions into the new position.

Cookie decorating contest planned

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui will present a cookie decorating contest from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19 via Zoom.

Cookies can be pre-ordered through Monday. A family cookie kit costs $20 and includes four gingerbread cookies, four assorted sprinkles, red icing, green icing and white icing. Cookies can be picked up the the BBBS office at 200 Waimaluhia Lane in Wailuku on Dec. 10.

Contestants can submit a photo of their cookie entry (include name and age) by midnight, Dec. 16 to ccabebe@bbbshawaii.org.

Librarian will discuss her book

Librarian Nancy Pearl will conduct a virtual author talk at 3 p.m. Thursday. She will discuss her new book, “The Writer’s Library: The Authors You Love on the Books That Changed Their Lives.”

Pearl is also a best-selling author and literary critic, as well as a radio and television personality. This free 45-minute online event is suitable for ages 12 and older. Registration is required. To register, go to bit.ly/HINancyPearl.

Bazaar set at Po’okela Church

Po’okela Church will hold its Winter Bazaar from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 5. Sale items include furniture, tools, clothing, jewelry, potted plants and items at the event’s boutique.

Civil Air Patrol is topic for speaker

The Rotary Club of Kahului will welcome Darryl Ng, past president of Rotary Club of Lahaina, to its weekly meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Monday via Zoom.

Ng is a real estate broker specializing in property management in Hawaii and California, and the commander of the Maui County Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. 

Ng will speak about the mission of the Civil Air Patrol.
