Lahaina business raises funds for YWCA program
A Maui business is marking Women’s History Month by raising money for a program at the YWCA Oahu through a special half-day shopping event.
From 12 to 4 p.m. today, 10 percent of the net sales at Lilly Pulitzer at Whalers Village in Kaanapali will benefit Dress for Success Honolulu, which empowers women to break the cycle of poverty and achieve economic independence by providing them with professional attire, employability skills and the tools to sustain a job.
Shoppers can also make purchases by phone throughout the “Shop & Share” event by calling (808) 793-3723, with free shipping provided for orders to any Hawaii address.
Most Dress for Success services, such as free personal suiting appointments and job readiness classes, have shifted virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic. This allows the program to assist clients throughout the state, including women on Maui who do not have a YWCA affiliate accessible on island.
Dress for Success is offering personal suiting appointments online on a rolling basis. Women experiencing job loss or seeking assistance with job readiness after experiencing adverse situations are encouraged to apply for the “Moving Forward” program, which begins its next series of online classes in May.
