New whale watch program offered to county students

Pacific Whale Foundation will offer a new whale watch program, Keiki Whalewatch Plus One, to Maui County students one Sunday per month in February, March and April.

Specially designed for Maui County students, the program allows children and teenagers to bring a parent or guardian on a weekend whale watch focused on exploring humpback whales in their natural habitat. The program includes a customized one-and-half-hour whale watch ecotour curated by Pacific Whale Foundation’s education team and take-home materials to learn more about the humpbacks and their marine environment.

The cost is $40 per student/plus-one pairing with a maximum of three additional students allowed per adult for $15 each. Students must attend a Maui County school to take part in this program.

Maui County schools also have the option of participating in Pacific Whale Foundation’s original Keiki Whalewatch program designed for classes and school groups. Trips are offered from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through March 31. The cost is $13 per student and $20 for additional adults. There is also a virtual whale watch program.
