PWF Run & Walk for Whales goes virtual

Pacific Whale Foundation’s annual Run & Walk for the Whales will be held virtually Feb. 1-28.

Participants can walk, jog or run 14.9 miles — the distance from the organization’s headquarters in Maalaea to its retail Ocean Store in Lahaina — anywhere at any time in February to support the nonprofit’s research, education and conservation programs. They will have 28 days to complete the challenge and can track their progress on the Strava app.

The foundation also offers an Endurance Challenge in which runners and walkers can set their own goals.

Participation fees are $50 per person, and all proceeds benefit the foundation’s research, education and conservation programs.

The virtual event includes access to a Facebook community group for the event, a participation medal and a chance to win a swag bag.
