Program awards 10 scholarships to county high school graduates

The Maui’s Sons and Daughters of the Nisei Veterans/Maui AJA Veterans scholarship program has awarded $1,000 scholarships each to 10 Maui County high school graduates.

The recipients are Jansen Chase Aceret of Maui High School, Kawaimalie Apolo of Kamehameha Schools Maui, Jessica Mae D. Castillo of Maui High School, Samantha Joyce Della of Maui High School, Angelina Lai of Lahainaluna High School, Grace Kathleen Martin of Maui Preparatory Academy, Leanne Osorno of Maui High School, Marie Eugene Pineda of Lahainaluna High School, Altene Jacob Tumacder of Maui High School and Kaylee Volner of Seabury Hall.

The scholarship program was established in 1951. Scholarships are awarded annually based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, an essay, financial need and letters of personal reference.
