Executive Assistant Lee Imada was named Maui Economic Opportunity’s Employee of the Month for May at a virtual general staff meeting on July 29.

Imada was nominated by Mae Koyanagi, who is one of two administration staff he supervises.

“I will hear him talking to people who need help that doesn’t involve MEO,” she said in nominating Imada. “But he never says ‘I don’t know’; he will find them the resources they need.

“This is a trait of all MEO staff as they go the extra mile.”

Imada has been employed by MEO for about a year and a half as executive assistant to CEO Debbie Cabebe.

“Lee is a gem,” Cabebe said after the announcement. “He brings a wealth of knowledge to MEO. He is effective, helpful and humble. We are so fortunate to have him on our team”

For being named Employee of the Month for May, Imada earned a $150 check and an extra vacation day. Koyanagi received $50 as the nominator.
