Family navigator addresses Rotarians
Maui Family Support Services and Hooikaika Partnership Navigator Heidi Allencastre will be the guest speaker at the
Rotary Club of Kahului’s virtual meeting from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday.
Allencastre will talk about Hooikaika System Navigation Services, which helps local families access services and support in Maui County. The meeting will be held on Zoom. The meeting ID is 876 2878 1582; the passcode is 055141.

Volunteers sought for Haleakala service trip
The Friends of Haleakala National Park is seeking enthusiastic and fit volunteers for a strenuous two-night backpacking service trip into the park’s wilderness areas Oct. 7-9.
Volunteers will hike into the crater and spend two nights in the Holua Ranger’s cabin and campsite while removing invasive plant species to protect native plants and nene habitat.
Participants must be physically capable of being in the outdoors — sun, heat and cold — and at higher elevations. They must also be able to walk on uneven terrain up to five miles each shift and carry a backpack with a sleeping bag, food and other personal items. Safety equipment and tools will be provided by Haleakala National Park.

Dayan Kai to perform at ProArts
The Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea will present “Hearts of Aloha: An Evening of Music with Dayan Kai” at the ProArts Playhouse from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 22.
Kai is a local composer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Proceeds from the performance will go to the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea’s youth programs, scholarships and community service projects.
General admission tickets are $25 per person.
