Beach plans get stuck in mud
First Photo: There were mud cracks in the parking lot at Baldwin Beach Park, which was still closed Wednesday. Brianne Savage, deputy director of Parks & Recreation, said her department expects to reopen the park Saturday as long as weather conditions remain favorable over the next few days. The park in Paia was closed Friday following heavy rain and flooding Feb. 21. She said county crews were working to continue to clean up the mud that coated the area and to dry out the parking and pavilion areas.
Second Photo: Haiku residents Tracy Lamon and Barclay Hill walk back to their car after visiting the closed park on Wednesday afternoon. “It’s muddy,” they said.
