Sierra Club Maui Group executive board member Lucienne De Naie (right) presents environmental and cultural rights advocate Tiare Lawrence with the 2016 Malama i Ka ‘Aina Award during the organization’s 40th birthday celebration at Lae’ula O Kai Canoe Club hale at Kanaha Beach Park on Saturday afternoon. The event’s theme was “Celebrating 40 years of Being a Voice for Maui lands.” Also receiving awards were Susan Bradford, Oliver Dukelow, Kathy Kaohu, the late Alex Bode, Karen Chun, Lance Collins, Lezley Jacintho and Healoha Carmichael. More than 100 people attended.
