A public hearing on proposed harbor administrative rules will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 11 at the Kahului Harbor Cruise Terminal, according to an announcement by the state Department of Transportation.
Other hearings will be held on Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island.
The rule amendments include full dockage and port entry rate increases of 20, 15 and 15 percent over three years, and they propose increases for vessels longer than 900 feet. Other amendments call for clarifying that wharfage fees shall not be charged on nonrevenue-generating company business; reduce wharfage rates for containers longer than 45 feet by 22 percent; and set passenger fees at $15 per person at Honolulu Harbor and at $8 per person at other commercial piers.
The department will announce its decision on the proposed amendments on Jan. 12.
