Bicyclist struck on busy Piilani Highway
Maui police officer Eric Grundy carries a damaged bicycle to his car Saturday along Piilani Highway after its rider was involved in a traffic accident. An unidentified family member of the female motorist involved in the wreck said the woman was driving toward Kahului and nearing the Ohukai Road intersection when the bicyclist made a sharp left turn into traffic in front of her car. He said the woman did not have time to stop before colliding with the man. The bicyclist was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center and his condition was not known. The woman was unharmed.
