Maui’s Kimura on Hawaii Tourism Authority board

Maui resident Kyoko Kimura, director of owner relations for Aqua-Aston Hospitality, will take her seat on the board of directors at this month’s meeting of the Hawaii Tourism Authority.

She is one of four new board members who were nominated by Gov. David Ige and confirmed by the state Senate. Her term runs through June 30, 2022. The date of this month’s HTA board meeting has not been announced.

Kimura is a 30-year veteran of the resort and hotel industry and serves as the liaison between the owners of 48 hotel properties and the management company. One of her primary responsibilities is working with state and county officials to secure permits and to address governmental issues.

She has served as interpreter for President George H.W. Bush and currently serves as a board member for the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center and the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority is responsible for strategically managing the state’s marketing initiatives to support tourism.
