Brown-water advisories posted
An islandwide brown-water advisory issued last week has been lifted, but advisories were issued Monday afternoon for Hanakao’o Park on the west side and Kihei from the old wharf to Cove Park by the state Department of Health.
Heavy rain-generated storm-water runoff that flowed into coastal waters that may include material from overflowing cesspools, sewers and manholes. The water may contain pesticides, animal fecal material, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and debris, the Health Department said.
Not all coastal areas may be impacted by runoff, but if the water is brown stay out, the Health Department advised.
