A performance audit of the county Department of Liquor Control has been extended to Sept. 21, Maui County Council Member Yuki Lei Sugimura announced Saturday.

The council authorized the audit in February. Harvey M. Rose Associates LLC has been working on the audit since May 21.

“To ensure the auditors have enough time to prepare a thorough audit report, they were given an additional three weeks to complete the audit,” Sugimura said.

The auditor’s final report had been due Aug. 31.
