Fisher rescued from tree after fall
Firefighters rescued a woman who fell about 25 feet off a cliff edge while fishing at Maliko Gulch on Wednesday evening, a fire official said.
A Paia engine company and Kahului rescue crew responded to the 6:57 p.m. call, locating the woman on the east side of Maliko Gulch, said Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro. He said the woman was 25 feet down a cliff and clinging to a tree, with a 100-foot drop below.
Fire crews used a rope system to secure and raise the woman to safety, Yatsushiro said.
He said the 35-year-old Maui resident was evaluated by medics and declined medical attention.
