Dignitaries break ground during Wednesday’s blessing ceremony for the 118-unit Kaiwahine Village affordable rentals project in north Kihei. Originally approved in 2011 by the Maui County Council as an affordable housing development, the project evolved into a 100 percent affordable rental project with two- and three-bedroom units. The completion date is expected in fall of 2021, according to filings with the County Council.
