Lahaina brush fire quickly contained
Firefighters quickly contained a quarter-acre brush fire Sunday afternoon in the area above Hanakaoo Beach in Lahaina, a fire official said.
After the fire was reported at 1:37 p.m., fire crews initially had difficulty reaching the fire because of brush on the hillside, said Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro. Lahaina and Napili firefighters eventually reached the fire and quickly knocked down flames to stop the fire from spreading, he said.
The fire was extinguished at 3:10 p.m.
The cause was undetermined.
