Solar farm on topic at Kula meeting

A solar farm proposed for an area between Kula and Wailea will be discussed Wednesday during a meeting of the Kula Community Association.

Julia Mancinelli of Innergex will give a presentation and seek community input on what should be reviewed in an environmental analysis.

Department of Public Works Director David Goode will update residents on potential solutions to various traffic concerns, a meeting announcement says. And, Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization Executive Director Lauren Armstrong will outline preparations for Maui’s long-range transportation plan.

Also on the group’s agenda will be Kula Elementary School Principal Chris Backus, who will describe the school’s new farm operation in Keokea, a program to get young children involved in agriculture. Maui County planner Annalise Kehler will explain steps to manage and protect historical and cultural sites.

The meeting will begin with the election of association officers and board members for 2019.
