Rescues reported in water off Kanaha

Two windsurfers and a kitesurfer were helped to shore Wednesday after they were reported to be in distress off Kanaha Beach Park, a fire official said.

Responding to a 3:30 p.m. call, ocean safety officers at the beach brought a windsurfer to shore, said Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro. He said 10 minutes later, after a 3:40 p.m. emergency call, a kitesurfer in trouble was brought to shore.

He said another windsurfer was brought to shore after an equipment breakdown at 4 p.m.

None of those rescued required medical attention, Yatsushiro said.

A high-surf warning was in effect Wednesday with waves at Kanaha Beach reported at 4 to 10 feet in the morning.
