Baldwin park and Lahaina pool reopen

Baldwin Beach Park in Paia and Lahaina Aquatic Center have both reopened, after closing due to weather issues, the county announced Thursday.

Both facilities were closed Tuesday. Baldwin park had flooding and mud issues that affected the park’s access road, parking lot and pavilion.

In Lahaina, lifeguards are unable to safely see the bottom of the pool at the aquatic center, prompting the closure according to aquatic protocol.

More rain appears on the horizon for Maui. A surface trough lingering near the Big Island will enhance clouds and showers over Maui and the Big Island into the weekend, the National Weather Service said. High-pressure systems moving in from the northwest may strengthen the winds early next week.

The forecast for Maui for today through Saturday calls for scattered showers with high temperatures of 83 degrees and lows of 65 degrees. Variable winds should blow 15 mph.
