Wailuku civic center topic of meeting
A Wailuku civic complex presentation will highlight the Wailuku Community Association’s general membership meeting at 5 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Promenade Building at 2050 Main St.
County planner and project administrator Erin Wade will make the presentation, which will include design and parking mitigation strategies for construction.
The project would replace the Wailuku municipal parking lot with a multistory parking structure and a three-story building for retail stores, county offices and special events.
It has run into opposition for its $80 million price tag.
At the meeting, county officials also may present plans to support qualified residents and businesses directly affected by the development. Attendees will be able to meet the construction management team in information stations.
Other topics during the meeting will include the Small Town, Big Art project, proposed amendments to Wailuku zoning and development code, and the Wailuku Clean & Safe program. The meeting will begin with reports from the association’s board and elections for 2019 leadership.
