HAPA reunites for concert at MACC
The Maui News
The original duo that put record-breaking HAPA on the map will reunite in concert next month at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului.
Barry Flanagan and Keli’i Kaneali’i, who established the band as one of the most recognized names in Hawaiian music, are rejoining after 17 years. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. May 19 in the MACC’s McCoy Studio Theater. Tickets go on sale today to MACC members and to the general public on Saturday.
Their self-titled album, released in 1993, remains the No. 1-selling recording by a group or duo in the history of recorded Hawaiian music, and it swept six categories in 1994’s Hawaii Music Awards, the predecessor to Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.
Tickets are $35, $45 or $65, plus applicable fees, starting at 10 a.m. today for MACC members. Purchase tickets in-person at the box office or by calling 242-7469 or visiting mauiarts.org.
