Fog, rain make driving something of a challenge

Fog and rain blanket Wailuku on Thursday afternoon as traffic navigates Kaahumanu Avenue. The unexpected pre-summer showers brought cooler temperatures to the Valley Isle on Thursday. Over a 24-hour period ending at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, most places in Maui County got less than an inch of rain, except for the West Wailuaiki gauge in East Maui, which recorded 2.04 inches. Friday was expected to be sunny with highs around 88 and north winds up to 15 mph in Central Maui, before giving way to isolated showers after midnight and lows of 67 to 72, according to the National Weather Service.
