Seeking volunteers to foster dogs

First photo: Maui Humane Society animal care attendant Lexi Hughes checks on groggy pup Baxter after his surgery Wednesday afternoon at the Puunene facility. Hughes estimated the heeler mix to be about six months old, and said he was neutered in preparation for going to a short-term foster home, possibly this week. With its kennels starting to get “uncomfortable crowded,” Humane Society officials have put out a call for volunteers to foster dogs. For more information, email aloha@mauihumanesociety.org, call 877-3680 ext. 3, or visit the shelter between 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Foster dogs have a “Foster” sign on their kennel.
