Humane Society gets $450K grant
The Maui Humane Society has received a $450,000 Lifesaving grant from the Petco Foundation to aid homeless animals.
“This grant will allow us to continue our work to help the homeless animals on Maui,” outgoing CEO Jerleen Bryant said in a news release Friday.
The nonprofit Humane Society, located at 1350 Mehameha Loop in Puunene, is Maui’s only open admission shelter and takes in around 6,200 animals per year.
According to the Petco Foundation, the program has invested more than $250 million in lifesaving animal welfare work since 1999 and has helped over 6 million pets.
