Kahekili Highway repairs discussed
The county emergency repair project on Kahekili Highway will be discussed at 6 p.m. Thursday at Waihe’e Elementary School cafeteria.
The project involves repairing a culvert head wall about 0.2 mile south of Maluhia Country Estates subdivision. The head wall was damaged during a storm in February, the county Department of Public Works said.
Construction to repair the head wall will involve daytime road closures on weekdays. Because of the highway’s narrow width, complete closure of the road during working hours will be necessary, the department said.
A start date for the project has not yet been determined. A review of preliminary plans is ongoing, and public input is being sought to assist with the planning process.
