Kino new fire battalion chief
Kaulana Kino, a 16-year veteran of the Maui Fire Department, has been promoted to battalion chief.
He is assigned to A Watch on the second battalion.
Kino joined the department in 2002 and previously was captain of engine companies in Hoolehua on Molokai, Lahaina and Wailuku.
He also has worked in Kahului and Hana and was assigned to the Hazardous Materials Team and Training Bureau.
Kino is Incident Command System program director and works with the Hazardous Materials Operation program. He previously was part of the Maui Incident Management Team, Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Program, Radio Communications Team, Master Strategic Plan Committee, Research and Development program and Community Emergency Response Team. He was program director of the department’s Honor Guard.
Kino is a 1999 graduate of Baldwin High School and has a degree from the University of Hawaii. He and his wife, Ashley, live in Waiehu with their children, Hamilton, Boston and Aceline.
His promotion took effect June 1.
