‘Still crazy after all these years’

Longtime Maui radio personality Cindy Paulos shows off her ticket to an upcoming Paul Simon concert after purchasing it Thursday afternoon at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s box office. “I’m absolutely thrilled,” said Paulos, who has worked at KAOI Radio Group for 30 years and also hosts the island’s longest-running radio talk show. “He’s my favorite lyricist and songwriter. He’s a genius.” MACC President and CEO Art Vento said Simon fans started lining up to buy tickets at 8 p.m. Wednesday, and there were between 50 and 75 people in line when sales to MACC members started at 10 a.m. Thursday. Simon is set to play two shows at the MACC’s A&B Amphitheater, Aug. 13-14, as a benefit for the Auwahi Forest Restoration Project and Kua’aina Ulu ‘Auamo. Tickets are currently available to MACC members and are scheduled to go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Saturday.
