• Beach commercial activities. Mayor Michael Victorino’s proposed changes to county Commercial Ocean Recreation Activities permits that would eliminate commercial activities on Sundays and holidays at permitted beach parks are administrative rule amendments and do not need County Council approval, according to Maui County Communications Director Brian Perry.
Victorino, in announcing the changes to the permits on the TV show “Insights on PBS Hawai’i” last week, said that he was taking the proposal to the County Council, which is not necessary.
