Road rage, gun incident reported
Police arrested a man who allegedly pointed a pistol at another man in a road rage confrontation in Paia last week.
John Decambra, 61, of Waihee was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, two counts of keeping a pistol or revolver in an improper place, two counts of prohibited possession of a firearm, prohibited possession of ammunition and keeping ammunition in an improper place.
The confrontation occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18 after a man driving a newer model lifted black four-wheel drive Toyota Tacoma pickup truck followed the victim to his residence in Paia, according to police. When the victim approached the passenger side of the truck, the window rolled down and a man pointed a handgun inches from the victim’s face, police said.
On Tuesday afternoon, a vehicle matching the description of the pickup truck was located at Kanaha Beach Park with Decambra inside, police said. He agreed to allow officers to search the truck, police said, and officers reported recovering a .25-caliber semiautomatic pistol with a magazine holding six bullets.
Decambra’s bail was set at $41,000.
