Thursday’s 95 degree high temperature set a record — the third day in a row this week that a heat record at Kahului Airport has been tied or broken.

The old record for Thursday was 93 degrees, set in 1984.

High temperature records were tied Wednesday and Tuesday at Kahului Airport with 93 degrees and 92 degrees reported, respectively.

A high temperature of around 88 degrees is forecast for today, according to the National Weather Service. Sunny skies with isolated showers in the morning are expected.

Northeast winds are forecast to blow up to 15 mph. There is a 20 percent chance of rain. The overnight low temperature is expected to be around 73 degrees.

There was a little rain reported on the parched island Thursday with nearly a half-inch at Hana Airport in the 24-hour period ending at 6:45 p.m.
