Boy, 15, arrested in robbery case

A 15-year-old boy was arrested after two teenage boys reported being robbed when they were approached by a group of males and assaulted Sunday night fronting the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku, police said.

Wailuku patrol officers were assigned to investigate the robbery at 9:43 p.m.

A 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy reported they were approached by a group of four to five other boys, said acting Lt. John Sang, Maui Police Department spokesman. He said the 17-year-old was punched in the face by one offender and the 15-year-old was kicked in the knee by another offender.

The offenders fled the area after taking $20 and a pair of sunglasses, Sang said.

He said the 15-year-old who was part of the group was later apprehended.

The victims complained of pain but refused treatment, Sang said.
