Suspect sought in Kihei robbery

Police are looking for a 45-year-old man suspected of punching another man and taking his property Tuesday morning at Kalama Park in Kihei.

Kihei patrol officers responded to the robbery reported at 6:17 a.m.

Investigation showed that a man identified as Howard Kim grabbed property belonging to the victim, punched the victim and fled on foot, said acting Lt. John Sang, Maui police spokesman.

The victim chased the offender but lost him, Sang said.

Kim is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He is known to frequent the Kihei and Lahaina areas.

Anyone with information on Kim’s location is asked to call the Maui Police Department at 244-6400.
